  • The Challenge
  • We are looking for an experienced Maintenance/Construction Technician III to join our Facilities Management team.

In this role, you will

  • Fix facility maintenance issues in state-owned NCDOT and NCDMV buildings managed by our Facilities Management team
  • Apply your knowledge of building codes and perform at the journey level in 2+ trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, or plastering)
  • Work at other facilities across the region when needed.
  • What You Bring
  • Excellent knowledge of building codes
  • Working knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and materials used in general maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery
  • Working knowledge of the methods, principles, and techniques used in the maintenance including electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, roofing, locks, windows, plumbing, and mechanical equipment
  • Experience supervising the work of skilled or semiskilled contractors
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and estimate repair costs
  • Computer experience preparing and maintaining routine records and reports.

  • Unscheduled overtime may be required during building emergencies
  • This position is subject to emergency call backs to assist with building emergencies after hours and on weekends/holidays
  • You will need to work during bad weather conditions (e.g., snow/ice storms)
  • We may require you to become certified by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician.
  • Education and Experience
  • High School/GED Diploma, and
  • 2+ years experience in the trades; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
