Primary Purpose of Position:
This position functions as Maintenance/Construction Technician I for the Museum of the Albemarle, which includes the building’s interior, exterior and grounds. The Maintenance/Construction Technician I will perform a variety of duties in care and cleaning of the facility. Some examples are sweeping and mopping floors, collecting refuse, pressure washing, mowing grass, trimming bushes, snow removal when applicable, troubleshooting HVAC, water booster pumps and elevator problems, changing lightbulbs or repairing fixtures, minor plumbing and electrical issues, maintain and repair doors and locks, maintaining equipment such as lawnmowers, forklift, vacuum cleaners, and assisting in other building related activities such as setup and removal of tables and chairs for events. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintaining interior and exterior of75,000 sq. ft. facility.
Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, collecting trash, pressure washing, landscape mowing, trimming vegetation, snow removal, re-lamping lighting fixtures, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, etc.
Set-up and takedown rental equipment including tables and chairs as well as stage equipment for special events and museum programs.
Maintains outdoor equipment include mowers, trimmers, edgers, and chainsaws.
Assist Facility Manager with troubleshooting HVAC system, booster pumps, elevators, fire alarm control panel, intrusion system, security cameras, and all related equipment.
Flexibility to manage all assigned duties.
Position/Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work Monday-Friday, 7:30a.m.-4:30 p.m. Some night and weekend hours.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to maneuver/traverse heights on various ladders and lifts.
Must be able to work in various weather conditions. Demonstrated experience in minor building repair, equipment operation and maintenance, janitorial upkeep, and/or general preventive maintenance of buildings and/or equipment. Demonstrated experience with carpentry, electrical, HVAC and/or plumbing repair.
Demonstrated experience maintaining landscaping and/or mowing.
Management Prefers:
Certified operator 20′ scissor lift.
Certified forklift operator.
Knowledge of fire control/security camera systems.
