Job Overview Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on material handlingequipment, including daily systems inspections of mechanicalequipment to include but not limited to carton conveying equipment,pallet conveying equipment and physical building structures. Worksindependently on routine tasks, but also works as part of the teamon projects designated by the Manager or Supervisor. Reports any problems to the Manager or Supervisor. Dismantles machine or equipment to examine parts for defect orto remove defective part. Replaces defective part with new part or repairs or reproducesparts. Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction ofmalfunction. Maintains and lubricates machine tools andequipment. Disassembles, inspects and performs routine repairs andrebuilds of defective parts on all equipment associated with theautomated warehouse. Required to install or recharge batteries for anybattery-powered material handling equipment. Required to repair and maintain PIT (Powered Industrial Trucks)batteries . Required to perform Preventative Maintenance task for BatteryChangers and Facility Sweepers Adheres to all maintenance safe work practices and maintains asafe working environment at all times. Removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines,and may paint machines or equipment to prevent corrosion. Performs basic electrical tasks associated with but not limitedto replacing motors, fuses, and switches. Operates shop tools such as a grinder, drill press, cuttingtorch and welding machine to repair or join metal parts. Capable of working under the guidance of other teammembers. Cleans work area, tools, and equipment. Performs other routineduties. Reports the usage and replacement of equipment andparts. Must possess proficient knowledge and continuous adherence ofOSHA, State and Local safety standards and the MLO Safety programstandards. Perform any other function management deems essential. Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality. Who you are High school diploma or general education degree (GED; with twoyears of commercial or industrial maintenance related experienceand/or training; or equivalent combination of education andexperience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must communicate with Shuttle office staff, Fleet MaintenanceAdm., Receiving dock staff, Big ticket management and carriers anddrivers. Adds, subtracts, and multiplies in all units of measure, usingwhole numbers, decimals and fractions. Must be able to work independently with minimalsupervision. Works harmoniously and effectively with others as part of ateam. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department andcompany needs. Essential physical requirements you will perform This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting,hearing, and talking. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, orcrouching. May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focusadjustment. May involve moving or lifting items up to 25 pounds. Random drug testing for all colleagues will be conducted on amonthly or semi-monthly basis, depending upon factors including butnot limited to the size of the facility and the number ofcolleagues on roll. Colleagues will be randomly selected fortesting by a third party. Testing must be completed on the sameworkday the colleague is informed of selection for testing, absentextenuating circumstances.
