General Summary:

Overview We are currently staffing for our 12 hour 2-2-3 schedules (8am-8pm OR 8pm-8am). Must have basic knowledge of Mechanical Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Electrical and Electronic Systems as well as General Maintenance. Must understand the difference between a single phase and three phase motor. Technician must be able to work as a team or individually. Must comply with all Company SAFETY rules (LOCKOUT/TAGOUT, ETC) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) at all times. Responsibilities Ensure Extrusion and Thermoforming equipment are in good mechanical order. Provide assistance to other teams (Production, Quality- when needed). Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Safety Practices at all times. Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other personnel to diagnose problem or repair machine. Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings gears, and other parts of machinery. Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical/electronic components of machinery and equipment. Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment. Installs, programs, troubleshoot, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as programmable controllers. Follow all

Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Champions the safety of all employees through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations. Supports and investigates electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic situations in which line/equipment stoppage or shutdown occurs due to perceived safety risk or machine malfunction to reduce product shortages, communicates, and resolves equipment failure situations. Involved actively in risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventative actions to all machine electrical and mechanical systems. Compliance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Through detailed electro-mechanical machine analysis, establish quality for all company customers and implements corrective action to ensure product in its highest regard. Uses root cause analysis to investigate machine related electrical/mechanical issues and plant facility equipment accordingly in a timely and thorough manner. Communicates with Maintenance and Production team to resolve all Department related machine opportunities. Collaborate with department and maintenance technicians to define root cause failure, counter measure and project management. Track counter measures, provide daily report out of issues, propose resolution, and implement counter measures. Purchase/request required stock and non-stock parts and equipment for the facility, including cost justifications and analysis. Provides preventive/predictive maintenance program suggestions to Team based on risk assessment and systemic counter measures. Performs other duties as assigned by Department Manager.

Requirements Skills:

High School diploma or GED is required. Individuals with 2 – 4-year technical degree desirable. In additions to the educational requirements, previous manufacturing/facility experience a must Plastic/Foam Extrusion and Thermoforming experience a plus. Five (2-5) years of Industrial Maintenance experience or equivalent on the job training. Electro-mechanical skill set and understanding of facility equipment up to and including Thermoformers, Extruders, plant electrical distribution, vacuum systems, etc… Firm understanding of Electronic Controls up to and including PLC’s, servo motors, and VFD’s. Must be able to speak, write, and read English effectively. Great comprehension skills at an advanced level. Must possess solid verbal and written communication skills. Must have solid computer literation.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee must be able to occasionally climb platforms or ladders to train/assist employees with job duties, lift up to 35 pounds, and be able to work up to and including 12-hour shifts. Must be able to work safely in the vicinity of open flames, hot foam, oil and metal. There is possible exposure to dust and odors from various substances such as oil, molten plastic/foam, degreasers and cleaning solvents. Ability to utilize a variety of computer software (Microsoft products preferred). Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and to handle multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously. Ability to communicate safety, goals and Company expectations with appropriate levels of the organization; create clear, timely audience appropriate messages (both written and verbal).
