DESCRIPTION

Simplifyber is searching for a Maintenance and Facilities Lead. This is a full-time position in a fast-paced, fast-growing startup. If you don’t have a “get it done” attitude, don’t apply. We are a collaborative, creative, multi-disciplinary team, blending scientific innovation with design and business. The Maintenance and Facilities Lead will mainly be working with Simplifyber’s Hardware, Automation, and Materials teams. A Maintenance and Facilities Lead is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of factory equipment and machinery through regular maintenance and repair. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The Maintenance and Facilities Lead will work closely with production teams to minimize downtime and support the efficient running of manufacturing processes.

Location:

Raleigh, NC. Due to the hands-on nature of this position, being on site is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Preventive Maintenance:

Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of factory equipment and machinery to prevent breakdowns. Perform routine tasks such as lubricating machines, replacing filters, and checking for wear and tear. Update maintenance records and schedules.

Troubleshooting and Repair:

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues affecting machinery. Repair or replace faulty components and systems as needed. Test repaired equipment to ensure proper functioning.

Emergency Repairs:

Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions and breakdowns to minimize production downtime. Work efficiently under pressure to address urgent repair needs.

Installation and Setup:

Assist in the installation and set-up of new machinery and equipment. Ensure that new equipment is properly calculated and functioning.

Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations regarding equipment operation and maintenance.

Documentation and Reporting:

Develop and maintain accurate records of scheduled maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used. Prepare reports on equipment performance and maintenance issues.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work alongside all members of the Simplifyber team, to assist with the design, assembly, modification, and operation of industrial manufacturing prototypes. Communicate effectively with other maintenance team members and management regarding equipment status and needs.

Continuous Improvement:

Suggest and implement improvements to maintenance procedures and practices. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in maintenance technology. Work in a hands-on manner to modify or design new parts for prototypes as needed. This may include metal work, plastics work, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred.

Experience:

Proven experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Skills:

Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures. Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities. The ability to weld is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding conditions. A willingness to work in varying shifts on occasion, including evenings and weekends if needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Factory or industrial settings with potential exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required.
