OVERVIEW :
: The Maintenance Technician supports the production process by ensuring all plant equipment operates efficiently and safely. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on a wide range of industrial equipment used in poultry processing and packaging operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
:: Partner with operations to support equipment troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance. Perform scheduled maintenance tasks during production downtime to ensure optimal equipment performance. Utilize mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills to troubleshoot and repair production equipment. Diagnose equipment issues, determine root causes, and implement effective repairs or part replacements. Minimize equipment-related production downtime through proactive and responsive maintenance. Respond promptly to production line calls and perform emergency repairs during operational hours. Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders to complete maintenance tasks accurately. Assist with general facility maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, and infrastructure repairs. Identify and report faulty operations, defective materials, and unusual situations to supervision. Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, GMPs, and standard operating procedures. Use appropriate hand and power tools, diagnostic meters, and material handling equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
:: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred. Minimum of 1 year of maintenance experience within a manufacturing setting is required; experience in food processing is preferred. Working knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical wiring, pneumatics, hydraulics, and plumbing. Proven experience in repairing heavy industrial equipment. Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills. Ability to work independently as well as within a team. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous improvement and safety.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
:: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions, if applicable. Must be able to work an entire shift either stationary or while walking on wet, dry, greasy, or uneven surfaces, including metal and plastic grating, for intervals of up to 4 hours. Ability to climb and work from ladders and stairs as needed. Must tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures ranging from -40°F to 100°F, with varying levels of humidity. Capable of working in environments with noise levels up to 110 dB and variable lighting conditions. Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment, including occasional lifting of items over 80 lbs and frequent lifting up to 25 lbs. Requires frequent bending, twisting, lifting, sitting, and grasping in various body positions, distances, and durations depending on task. Exposure to chemicals commonly found in poultry processing, including peracetic acid, chlorinated water (50 ppm), ammonia vapors (5 ppm), dry ice, caustic cleaners, lubricants, and hydraulic fluids.
