Center, NC JOB Hiring Range:
$37,769 – $39,657The Facilities Maintenance Technician maintains Town parks, the Surf City Community Center, and other facilities by assisting with construction, maintenance, and repair projects, performing semi-skilled manual labor, and operating power tools and equipment. This is a 40-hour-per-week non-exempt position that requires some nights, weekends, and holiday work.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
These duties and responsibilities are not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the town’s ongoing needs.
Utilizes various hand and power tools to perform a wide array of construction, maintenance, and repair tasks associated with Town facilities, grounds, streets, fields, and parks. Assists with performing construction and repair work in specific areas by operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, skid steers, and tractors, and building and repairing irrigation systems. Assists with monitoring fluid levels and cleaning equipment and tools.
Assists with performing inspections, preventative and routine maintenance, and basic repairs on facilities, grounds, streets, tools, and equipment.
Assists with cleaning facilities, grounds, streets, courts, walkways, beaches, fields, and project sites, including picking up trash, clearing debris, and moving refuse to appropriate areas.
Assist with the installation of equipment when necessary.
Assist with special events by transporting and installing special equipment, supplies, and signage. Directs traffic during events as needed.
Works a rotating shift schedule that includes daytime, evening, holidays, and weekend hours, depending on the department’s needs.
Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.
Always maintains a clean work environment.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Working ConditionsEmployees are subject to environmental conditions, including the lighting, temperature, and noise of an open-plan office environment. The employee is primarily exposed to outdoor conditions and may be frequently exposed to weather conditions, including rain, wind, varying temperatures, etc. In addition, the employee must effectively deal with personal danger, which may include exposure to hazardous chemicals and materials, intense heat, electrical hazards, confined or high workplaces, extremely loud noises, risks of driving, hazards associated with traffic control, and working in and near traffic, and natural and man-made disasters. Work performed in this job may place the employee at risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
Physical RequirementsTravel is required to indoor and outdoor sites to perform the abovementioned duties and attend meetings, training, events, and other activities. Work requires standing, walking, running, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling, lifting, carrying, and/or moving equipment, pushing and pulling various objects, climbing stairs and ladders, and operating assigned equipment, including motor vehicles. The employee must be able to perform medium work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. A minimal portion of work is performed within an office environment and may include computer operation. The employee must read, write, and interact with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices.
