Summary:

To perform independent cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of one or multiple state facilities, buildings, or institutions; may include assignment to multiple units, areas, locations, or districts.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education:
  • Completion of eighth grade or its equivalent.
  • Experience:
  • None required.

Relevant work experience may be substituted for required formal education.

Recommended Work Traits

  • Knowledge of the methods and practices of cleaning services in a large complex, health facility, or building
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services
  • Knowledge of quality standards for health, environment and safety

Responsibilities:

Performs light to heavy physical custodial activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and whole body movement, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, or handling equipment and materials to perform cleaning duties, such as dusting, vacuuming, stripping/buffing/waxing floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls, and glass, and disinfecting.

Performs routine building and facilities maintenance duties such as changing lightbulbs, adjusting or replacing fixtures, and resetting machinery or environmental systems.

Removes snow, debris, or garbage from grounds/walkways; salts and sands when needed. Mows, cuts hedges and trims grass. Moves beds, furniture, equipment, partitions, materials, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks.
