The Facilities Electrical Controls Technician plays a key role in pushing innovation at NOBL by assisting in the development of automation and maintenance of our machines. Description The Facilities Electrical Controls Technician’s responsibility is to help with everything from daily proactive and reactive maintenance tasks and special projects to full facility upgrades, including implementation of new equipment. This position requires a background in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. This position is geared toward electrical controls, but industrial electrical, programming logic, and general maintenance experience is expected. Key Responsibilities The Facilities Electrical Controls Technician is responsible for working as part of a broader facilities team, focusing on the efficient operation and maintenance of all company plant equipment. This includes ensuring the equipment is appropriately maintained to promote exceptional product quality, employee safety, and food safety standards, as well as ensuring that regulatory requirements are met or exceeded. Additionally, this position will help improve the automation of the facility, including the installation of sensors, relays, controls, and other components to improve the reliability and efficiency of the facility.
Job Duties:
Ensure the facility runs smoothly, from mechanical systems and production equipment to stocking necessary repair/replacement parts during all operating hours and on an on-call basis when off-site. Work closely with the facilities team to upgrade, repair, and maintain facility equipment. This includes production and packaging specific equipment including the canning line, pasteurizer, chillers, , and other critical devices. The ability to diagnose and repair other facility equipment, including forklifts, is expected. Work quickly, safely, and efficiently to immediately resolve issues that are causing production downtime. Perform mechanical or electronic technical duties in the fabrication, testing, debugging, and documentation of standard assemblies, modules and systems. Maintain, install, repair, and troubleshoot all systems and equipment in the facility. Perform rebuilds to restore equipment to its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications. Assist in the coordination of the various contractors, specialists, workers, and technicians that may be involved during specialized projects or repairs. Identify key issues and implement necessary projects and repairs to ensure that the continued work at the Seabrook facility is safe, efficient, and operational. Maintain stock of all necessary spare parts, supplies and backup equipment to ensure efficient operations by partnering with management. Completes schedule Preventative Maintenance tasks as assigned or required by the equipment manufacturer Perform adjustments and calibration procedures on various forms of process equipment. Troubleshooting equipment using ladder logic and schematics.
Use electrical test instrumentation examples:
volt-meter, megger, and Ohm meter. Maintain a written or electronic log of any notable events that occur during shift coverage. The ability to work a 12pm to 8pm shift is preferred, however all facilities staff are expected to work off shift hours based on both preventive maintenance and emergency downtime coverage.
Qualifications Required:
Must have a working knowledge of industrial control systems, PLC systems, and relay logic. Must have proven experience and ability in electrical/mechanical and electronic troubleshooting techniques. Two-year degree, Electronics Certification, 3 years in related field or equivalent training. High level of personal initiative, self-driven, proactive, action and solution oriented Thrives in a challenging, entrepreneurial atmosphere; open to change and creating change. Strong communication skills, both oral and written for effective collaboration with plant personnel and vendors. Excellent interpersonal skills, crossfunctional collaboration, team player, generates enthusiasm, builds effective working relationships at all levels Demonstrated proficiency with computers and software is preferred. Food manufacturing experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Prolonged periods of time of standing and working on your feet. Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facilities. Must be able to access all parts of the company equipment. Must be able to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs. Must be able to regularly lift/carry heavy supplies in an environment that may be loud, slick, humid, and hot.
