Fire Door Replacement Technicians ensure that all fire doors are installed in accordance with the fire door manufacturer’s instructions and ensure that it will perform as required in as intended in a fire situation. Individuals must have extensive experience using power tools and hand tools and have a carpentry or construction background.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Install and repair fire-rated doors to keep customers in compliance with fire safety codes. Install/repair fire-rated doors and door closing/sealing mechanisms (hinged doors). Perform repair of fire door frames, locksets, latches, closers, strike plates, miscellaneous door and frame hardware and material to bring up to code requirements following ordinance with

NFPA 80, NFPA

105 and the IBC standards for fire door performance. Order and install fire door hardware, fire doors and related equipment. Document repairs that are unable to be completed, obtain and record specifications for hardware to be ordered. Provide accurate and complete documentation for customer’s code compliance and reporting. Comply with safety and environmental procedures and programs. Read, interpret and follow NFPA codes and Joint Commission accreditation requirements. Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting and communicating with clients within healthcare facilities. Provide accurate documentation in a timely manner that will be included in final reports to ensure that facilities are in compliance. Maintain professional and timely communication with customers and FDS management and team prior to and following completion of projects. Ability to interpret Life Safety prints and work through a facility self-directed. Attention to detail. Installations must be done in a professional manner and left in a condition ready to receive final owner finishes. Knowledge and extensive experience working with carpenter hand tools (drill, screws, screwdriver, tap & dye sets, bondo, sander, etc.) along with proper maintenance of tools and equipment.

Requirements and Preferred Experience:

Experience with installing fire rated doors, or commercial frames and hardware. Mechanically inclined with a minimum of two (2) years of carpentry or construction experience required. Must be able to read and understand work orders and LSPs. Ability to complete tasks with limited supervision. Demonstrate ability to follow inspection methods and procedures, recognizing and recording deficiencies. Demonstrate knowledge and use of tools along with maintenance and calibration requirements. Demonstrate ability to review inspection reports and approve for client distribution. Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills. Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational/attention to detail. Self-starter, excellent listener and completes tasks independently and efficiently with limited direction Professional appearance. Administer proper infectious control measures per hospital requirements. Efficient with smartphones, tablets, computers and Microsoft Office for reporting daily progress to Operations Support. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Calendar. Must be able to work overtime as required. Extensive travel is required (up to 100% paid travel, per diem, hotel, airfare and rental cars). Must live within 1 hour of a major airport.
