Present Schedule Monday-Friday:

8:00am-4:30pm Weekends/Overtime as required, based on business/project needs Position Summary The General Maintenance Technician will be responsible for day-to-day upkeep and repair of our facilities, with a focus on light plumbing, electrical work, drywall repair, painting, and carpentry. This role requires a proactive, self-motivated individual who can work independently and as part of a team. Essential Functions Perform routine inspections and general maintenance of facilities. Handle minor plumbing tasks such as unclogging drains, replacing fixtures, and repairing leaks. Conduct light electrical work including replacing outlets, light fixtures, and troubleshooting issues. Patch, repair, and texture drywall as needed. Paint interior and exterior surfaces to maintain a clean and professional appearance. Complete basic carpentry tasks such as cabinet repairs, trim installation, countertop repairs. Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas and tools. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies. Document all repairs and maintenance performed. Complies with safety regulations Assists in development of a preventative maintenance program Meets the needs and requests from the unit managers Desired Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 2 years of experience in general building maintenance. Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, and carpentry. Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent time management and organizational abilities. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed. Ability to follow instructions and work independently Able to handle multiple tasks effectively Exceptional interpersonal, and communication skills Be available for CDS and/or University special events and promotions Valid NYS driver’s license with clean, safe driving record Work Environment The work environment can be loud and busy. There is exposure to kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and liquids, sharp knives, and slippery falls The position may operate in a kitchen environment where the employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire, and noise Work may take place in a refrigerated and temperature-controlled environment Physical and Mental Demands Must have the ability to lift frequently, push and pull 50 lbs.+, reach above head height, squat, kneel, bend and reach. This position is very active and the employee must be able to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures. The employee must have the ability to use hands to finger, manipulate fingers; and reach with hands and arms Good visual acuity for reading reports, computer work, etc. Ability to demonstrate safe driving practices. Licensure/Certification Valid NYS driver’s license with clean, safe driving record Travel Travel between UB campuses required in company vehicle.
