Full Job Description General Description:

Under general supervision performs a variety of jobs to include but not limited to: maintenance, modification and repair activities in assigned maintenance operations areas, interior and exterior building maintenance, lighting, facilities. Safely performs work to keep machines, mechanical equipment, and the structure of an establishment in a good state of repair. Welding; machining; some carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing building, floors, railings, overhead doors, and general HVAC up keep. This team member will occasionally be required to come in on off-shift hours for emergency breakdowns, etc. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Maintains day to day responsibilities as outlined in the job summary. Carries a company issued cellular phone to respond to call-backs in emergency break down situations and on an as needed basis Visually inspects, tests, and performs preventative maintenance on all machinery and equipment. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem and repair equipment. Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as outlets and equipment wiring, and electrical components of machinery and equipment. Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. Repairs and helps maintain physical structure of establishment. Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as programmable controllers. Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine and is able to repair or sometimes fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools. Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other metal structures. Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Attention to safety must be adhered to at all times. Unsafe practices or situations must be reported to a supervisor immediately. Competencies

Qualifications:

Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Seven to ten years of experience in general maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a mechanical background; electrical experience highly preferred.

Additional Skills and Experience:

Solid knowledge of all relevant environmental health & safety standards. Basic computer skills. Knowledge of Pneumatic and Hydraulic principles. Basic auto mechanic experience for forklift repairs a plus. Read blueprints for troubleshooting purposes. Solid working knowledge of hand, power, and electrical tools/equipment. Understanding of electron sensors and their operation. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and keep up with the daily demands of production. Ability to work shift work, overtime, weekends if required and be on call. Ability to climb tall heights safely without hesitation

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the team member is regularly required to stand; must be able to climb or reach with hands and arms. The team member is frequently required to walk and climb or balance. The team member is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear. The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear warning sounds such as horns, material handling equipment, and buzzers from cranes.
