Position Summary:
The Facilities Technician II plays a critical role in maintaining the hospital’s physical infrastructure, ensuring a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position involves intermediate-level responsibilities in the maintenance, repair, and operation of hospital systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.
Responsibilites:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on hospital equipment and building systems. Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely and professional manner. Assist with the installation and setup of new equipment and systems. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Ensure compliance with hospital safety standards, infection control policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA). Support emergency preparedness and response efforts, including participation in drills and on-call rotations. Collaborate with contractors and vendors during inspections, repairs, and renovations. Maintain clean and organized workspaces and mechanical rooms. Must possess a valid
NYS Driver License Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or institutional environment.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety). Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Proficient in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and CMMS software. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
Work Environment:
Hospital setting with exposure to patients, clinical areas, and sensitive equipment. May require working evenings, weekends, holidays, and participating in an on-call rotation.
