01/29/2025 10:51 AM The Sewer District is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Mechanic II (Sewers). This is skilled work requiring a high level of technical knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of sewer equipment. The work differs from that of Maintenance Mechanic in the higher level of work performed. The work is performed under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and work direction is exercised over a sewer maintenance crew. Employees in this position may be on call at times other than regularly scheduled times. Does related work as required. Thorough knowledge of materials, practices, tools, terminology and safety precautions relative to the operation of sewage treatment facilities; ability to exercise skill in the use of tools needed to operate sewer equipment; ability to follow rough sketches and oral instructions; ability to supervise the work of others; ability to prepare activity records and reports; mechanical aptitude. The job duties of Maintenance Mechanic II (Sewers) are: plans, supervises, and oversees the inspection, maintenance, and repair assignments (e. g. modification, installation and removal of structures, equipment, piping, valves, grounds, appurtenances, etc.) of a sewer maintenance crew (e.g. Maintenance Mechanics, Assistant Maintenance Mechanics, Electronic Equipment Repairers, Maintenance Assistants or Maintenance Helpers) at all sewer facilities; prepares work orders and oversees schedules, reports, logs, and maintenance records; provides guidance to employees in safety procedures and job duties; ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures; maintains proper inventory of parts, supplies, tools and materials; maintains shop and storage areas; participates in the planning, designing and modification of building equipment, as required

Minimum Qualifications:

Six (6) years of experience in machinery maintenance or other relevant construction trade such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, engine or pump repair and maintenance, one (1) year of which involved.

Other Requirements and Information:
NOTE:

High school vocational training or technical school training or formal apprenticeship training in a trade skill may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid driver’s license appropriate for the kind and size of motor vehicle to be operated which must be maintained throughout the course of employment in this title. Medical clearance for the use of respiratory equipment.
