A Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining facilities and plant equipment as needed. The job involves working with Operations, Logistics, R D, and other plant personnel as needed. Responsibilities:
Responsible for machinery inspections, corrective and preventative maintenance, machinery lubrication, installation, relocation, and repair of plant industrial equipment Experience maintaining/repair of motors, gearboxes, blending/mixing equipment, extruders, conveying systems, compressed air and cooling systems Intermediate welding and Fabrication skills Read meters, gauges, or devices to record data such as temperature of equipment, vibration of equipment, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels, water chemistry to verify operating conditions Perform general maintenance and cleaning of Plant as needed. Installation and maintenance of PLC’s; reading ladder diagrams and updating PLC to latest program Wiring and troubleshooting 4-20mA, 0-24VDC, analog and digital components Wiring and troubleshooting 480 volts, 3 phase equipment from electrical wiring diagrams Working in a production environment which may include scheduled on-call night and weekend duties Practice of good housekeeping in shop facilities and at the job site a must Safe and responsible operation of moving equipment such as forklifts and manlifts Aid in equipment installation for manufacturing and research and development activities as required Perform safety related duties such as issuing lockout tag out, hot work permit, confined space entry permit, PPE assessment, job task analysis, as required to maintain a safe work environment
Competencies:
5+ years’ experience as a Plant Maintenance Technician (or similar position) in a manufacturing environment 2+ years experience working with installation and maintenance of production equipment 2+ years in installation, troubleshooting and basic operation of flow meters, thermocouples, level probes and VFD’s Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills. Aptitude to work effectively within a small, entrepreneurial team that is in a strong growth phase. Self-driven and strong sense of urgency Ability to follow instructions and work independently
Physical Requirements:
To perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to: Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Climbing:
Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
Stooping:
Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Kneeling:
Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
Crouching:
Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
Crawling:
Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
Reaching:
Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing:
Particularly for sustained periods of time.
Walking:
Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
Pushing:
Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
Pulling:
Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
Lifting:
Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
Grasping:
