Maintenance Helper Job Description Join our dynamic team as a Maintenance Helper, where you will perform a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of our facility. Your duties will include floor scrubbing, restroom and office cleaning, trash removal, yard clean-up, and snow removal. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, including disposing of metal chips, performing preventative maintenance, and operating machinery such as the sump sucker and recycling system. Responsibilities Perform facility maintenance tasks including floor scrubbing, cleaning restrooms and offices, trash removal, yard clean-up, and snow removal. Remove and dispose of metal chips from production equipment. Conduct preventative maintenance on production equipment, such as cleaning machines, changing metalworking fluids, and cleaning sumps and tanks. Assist with light maintenance duties like restocking supplies, changing light bulbs, and cleaning roof drains. Operate sump suckers and recycling systems to maintain metalworking fluids in production equipment. Assist in cleaning all production equipment. Perform janitorial tasks as required. Utilize forklifts and scissor lifts for maintenance tasks. Read and interpret work orders to execute required maintenance tasks. Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. Perform general shop duties or assist other departments as business demands require. Conduct and document facility inspections, including fire extinguishers, life safety equipment, and forklifts. Perform basic preventative maintenance on HVAC units within the facility and rooftop units. Promote a positive and professional atmosphere, supporting activities that enhance employee welfare and morale. Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to safety policies consistently. Essential Skills Facilities maintenance experience Mechanically inclined with ability to use hand and power tools Preventive maintenance skills HVAC troubleshooting experience General labor skills Additional Skills & Qualifications 1-2 years of maintenance experience or 3-4 years in a manufacturing facility Experience operating powered industrial trucks is helpful Ability to work with sketches, oral, or written instructions with minimal supervision Proficiency in operating various powered industrial trucks Mentoring skills for maintenance personnel Regular attendance and punctuality Effective communication and interpersonal skills Professional qualities such as initiative, integrity, and teamwork Knowledge and application of Lean Manufacturing concepts Ability to speak, write, and read English, and interpret documents such as safety guidelines and procedure manuals Willingness to work overtime as needed Basic computer skills Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates on the 1st shift from Monday to Friday Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $24.00/hr.
