- Provides enhanced patient care under the direction of thelicensed nurse, which may include but is not limited to advanceddressing care, suctioning, removal of Foley Catheter and peripheralIV.
- May perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain bloodspecimens according to Clinical Laboratory Standards Instituteguidelines.
- May perform daily, hands-on aspects of the storage,preparation and delivery of breast milk, infant and pediatricformulas.
- Documents in the appropriate sections to create acomplete and accurate medical record.
- Identifies, observes, anddocuments the physical needs of the patient according toestablished standards. Reports any changes in patient condition tolicensed personnel in a timely manner.
- Obtains and maintains theintegrity of specimens in accordance with policy and procedure,according to physician order.
- Provides for or assists patientswith activities of daily living and fulfills designated anddelegated responsibilities for ongoing continuum of care. Includespatient hygiene and changing linens.
- Provides one to one patientsafety watch as assigned following established policies andprocedures.
- Accurately processes specimens and provides timelytransport of the specimen to the laboratory.
- Performs point ofcare patient testing and point of care instrument maintenance andquality control.
- Assists in problem solving, trouble shooting andtaking corrective measures in care and maintenance of equipment andsupplies.
- Serves as a preceptor and mentor for new staff andstudents in a positive manner.
- Performs clerical duties foradmissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths according tostandards and facilitates patient throughput activities.
Transcribes and processes orders according to unit standard.
- Releases and confirms ordered tests to appropriate departments.
- Coordinate’s transportation of patients to multiple tests.
- Participates in obtaining and communicating electronic informationas pertinent to the nursing unit. Schedules tests, faxes consult,etc.
- Assists in ordering supplies. Stationery items as well asfloor stock, patient needs, individual nursing supplies.
- Communicates with food services to ensure appropriate patientdiets.
- Operates, problem solves, and takes corrective measuresfor clerical equipment. To include scheduling maintenance ofcomputers, fax machines, phones, etc.
- Staff have access tonon-controlled medications storage and supply areas and cantransport non-controlled medications as necessary to meet the needsof the clinic or unit.
- Assists with transporting non-controlledmedications to and from Pharmacy and within the unit as needed.
- Assists with transporting blood products to and from Blood Bank asneeded.
- Discharge follow up phone calls / coordinating virtualdischarge appointment team.
- Support / Assist staff with 5 minDrills and/or Quality Rounds
- participate in regulatory readinessas needed.
