POSITION GOAL
Maintenance employees maintain school facilities. They work both inside and outside the building and are responsible for maintaining all areas.
Essential Functions Duties:
Maintenance duties will include: 1. Raise flag 2. Basic plumbing work, including unblocking drains, traps, faucets, flush meters, etc. 3. Basic electrical work, including ballasts, switches, receptacles, etc. 4. Perform any other basic maintenance work, fixing items 5. Lock all Entrance Doors 6. Run the sump pump located in the upper south hall maintenance room to empty tank containing drain water from the science labs 7. Check the boiler room several times during a shift 8. Clean snow and ice, including shoveling and operating snowblower and snowplowing, from parking lots, sidewalks, and outside steps, and apply ice melt 9. When necessary, assist in parking cars and directing traffic at events 10. Set up gym, auditorium, etc., for activities during the day, return to the original setting, and clean up the gym after the pep rally 11. Assist in fire drills 12. Assist in setting up for graduation and other practices, ceremonies, and events; after events, assist in moving and/or stacking supplies in and out of the warehouse 13. Fix lockers as requested by students, office, and teachers 14. Help students and teachers with maintenance problems 15. Hang maps, bulletin boards, whiteboards, etc. 16. Clean unit vents in classrooms 17. Touch up paint on walls, as needed 18. Perform maintenance as indicated on teachers end of year requests/checklists 19. Check all desks, molding, receptacles, switches, etc., and repair 20. Paint lines on roads and long walkways; paint outside and inside, and garbage cans 21. Sports field maintenance, including lining, set up, and take down for sporting events 22. Cut grass on school grounds, including weed whacking in courtyards and elsewhere 23. Take care of shrubs and flowers, etc. 24. Unblock drains inside and outside buildings 25. Lifting BO lbs. bags minimum 26. Assist in preparing for graduation and cleaning up 27. Help unload tractor trailers/deliveries 28. Responsible to police school grounds 29. Have knowledge of the operation and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines and all equipment used 30. Perform preventative maintenance on filters, drains, traps, waste lines, grease and oil heat units and fans 31. Check and repair ceiling tiles, entrance doors, floor tiles and speakers 32. Check and repaint all lockers and moldings 33. Paint rooms, halls, and offices, if necessary 34. Move furniture, filing cabinets, etc., as needed 35. Replace door glass in classroom doors 36. Carpenter work 37. Patch and tar parking lots and school roads 38. Prepare files for all activities 39. Repair machinery when capable 40. Remove garbage from fields 41. Pick up supplies 42. Assist the public, when necessary 43. Go to elementary buildings when instructed 44.
Maintenance of all equipment:
small engines, pulley systems, and air filtration units 45. Be able to assemble, repair, and install instruction and non-instruction equipment 46. Be familiar with the needs of the schools’ electrical, plumbing, carpentry and tools 47. Be familiar with the maintenance needs of the schools in the following areas: plumbing, electrical, water, heating, kitchen equipment, roofs, flooring, doors and window hardware 48. Report all unsafe conditions. 49. Check all doors and windows to maintain security in the building. 50. Repair lavatories, restrooms, and toilets. 51. Monitor and inspect building facilities for safety and cleanliness. Maintain and make minor repairs to the facility, troubleshoot and report areas requiring maintenance to the Director of Buildings and Grounds, and notify the Director of Buildings and Grounds of hazardous or harmful situations. 52. Secure the facility by locking doors and windows and setting alarms. Monitor building security throughout the shift. Report supply and equipment needs to the Head Custodian. 53. Check, clean, and adequately care for all equipment and tools; repair as needed 54. Report all equipment damage that needs repair. 55. Lock and unlock doors to classrooms, offices, etc. Maintain locked doors 56. Help staff by supervising the exit bf students during drills. 57. Assist with the inventory of supplies. 58. Be thoroughly acquainted with all light and power electrical panels, where they are, and what they operate, and be able to change receptacles and light switches. 59. Ensure all fire and safety regulations are met throughout the building and report all abnormalities to the supervisor. 60. Be responsible for timely reporting absences/time off in the Frontline absence system. 61. Responsible for maintaining all areas of a facility. Perform upkeep of an assigned building and associated grounds. 62. Provide high-level customer service for school events and community activities, including set-up/clean-up. 63. Minor Electrical, Plumbing, and Carpentry work. 64. Maintaining HVAC equipment, including changing and cleaning filters, belts, and motors. 65. Serve as backup for controlling HVAC 66. Any other duties reasonably related to the above as the administration requires.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma 2. Demonstrates interest in buildings and grounds to protect staff and students. 3. Evidence of emotional maturity and stability necessary for the specialized work involved. 4. Work independently and self-motivated 5. Welding ability preferred 6. HVAC certificates preferred. 7. Ability to walk and stand for lengthy periods of time.
TEBMS OF EMPLOYMENT 1.
Hourly rate according to the agreement between the Crestwood School District Board of Directors and support staff CBA.
