ROLE OVERVIEW
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all equipment, utilities, and facility systems to ensure smooth and safe operations at the plant. As the sole maintenance role on site, this position requires a highly skilled, self-sufficient technician with a strong background in manufacturing maintenance, preferably in food production. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining documentation, managing service vendors, and supporting compliance with safety and food quality regulations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Equipment Maintenance & Repairs Perform daily, preventive, and corrective maintenance on all production machinery, packaging equipment, refrigeration systems, boilers, and facility infrastructure. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues. Minimize downtime through quick and effective repairs. Preventative Maintenance Program Management Develop and execute the plant’s preventive maintenance schedule, tracking tasks and keeping maintenance logs up to date. Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and critical components. Safety, Food Compliance & Facility Support Ensure equipment and building systems comply with OSHA, FDA, USDA, and HACCP regulations. Support food safety by ensuring sanitation, maintenance protocols, and documentation meet GMP standards. Perform general facility repairs, including lighting, plumbing, and structural upkeep. Vendor Coordination & Project Support Manage and oversee external contractors and service vendors for specialized equipment or larger repair projects. Support capital improvement and equipment upgrade initiatives as needed. Documentation & Communication Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment manuals, and inspection logs. Communicate regularly with plant leadership regarding equipment status, maintenance schedules, and urgent repairs.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong preference for USDA-regulated food production.
