PositionPurpose:
Inspects, maintains, repairs, and installs electricalsystems, instrumentation systems, mechanical, pneumatic, andhydraulic equipment, and fixtures.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance onmechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipmentaccording to vendor specifications. Inspects and troubleshootselectrical and instrumentation systems, equipment, and fixturesusing testing devices, gauges, and other tools of the trade;obtains necessary parts through established procedures. Performselectrically related activities; and installs new or replacementelectrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. Calibratesinstrumentation, valves, flow meters, etc. Zeros and spans, debugs,and adjusts. Programs variable frequency drives. Tunes controllers,valves, actuators, etc. Downloads and restores stored data in PLCs,controllers, eproms, etc. Pulls up
SCADA/PLC
control strategies,looks at I/O for errors, diagnoses and resolves communicationcircuit problems, etc. Changes I/O modules, PLCs, etc. Completestasks and repairs common to their licensed specialty, Reports anddocuments result of inspections and work performed, enters datainto computer programs, and prepares labor and material estimates.
Operates vehicles and mobile equipment for plant maintenancepurposes. Trains peers and subordinates as requested. Assures workis performed in a safe and professional manner by followingestablished safety, operating, and emergency response procedures,and in conformance with relevant building and electrical codes.
Performs cleanup and housekeeping tasks for work area, tools, andequipment.
Work Environment:
Requires working in outside and insideenvironments with noise and all temperatures and climaticconditions and must be able to work under adverse weatherconditions for extended periods of time.
QualificationsEducation/Experience/Background:
High School Diploma/GED isrequired.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must demonstrate a workingability to use computer programs for maintenance management.
Requires working knowledge of the standard practices, common tools,materials, occupational hazards, and safety precautions of thetrade as acquired through four years of on-the-jobelectrician/instrumentation experience. Requires basic knowledgerelating to the maintenance of pumps, blowers, compressors, andother electrically driven equipment. Must have the ability tosafely operate material handling equipment; and to apply electricalmethods to the maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, andfixtures. Requires good reading, math, writing, scientific, andverbal communication skills; and the ability to read wiringdiagrams, sketches, blueprints, specifications, and vendorinstructions. Requires the ability to carry out verbal and writteninstructions. Requires ability to plan, organize, train, andfunctionally supervise subordinates. Must have the ability toestablish effective working relationships with other employees.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
Must have a validdriver’s license. Must have an Electrical Journeyman’s License;Other Nationally Recognized Licensed Trades will be considered forthe position. Consideration will be based upon the needs of thefacility.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in variouspositions which require bending (60%), walking (25%), standing(10%), and sitting (5%). Requires lying on back, kneeling,crawling, twisting, and squatting. Must be able to distinguishgreen indicator lights from red. Body movements require workingwith hands extended above and below head and from body, using handtools weighing up to 10 pounds. Ability to lift and carry 60 poundsin standing and bending positions and carry while walking distanceof 10 feet.
