Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Performs expert levelbreak-fix & preventative maintenance.

This includes but is notlimited to: observing devises in operation to location root causeof problem; dismantling devices to gain access to and removedefective parts; examining parts to detect imperfections;adjustment of functional parts of devices and control instruments;repair and/or replacement of defective parts; testing of device toobserve performance; and performing tests for electrical circuitryand mechanical systems; reconditioning and repairing machine tools

  • Identifies and sources parts, supplies and repair items asnecessary. Performs evaluations of alternatives to improve cost and/ or reliability of equipment.
  • Independently performs maintenanceas per industry standards.
  • Works with customer counterparts tooptimize maintenance, reliability, and preventative maintenanceprocedures.
  • May be required to setup and operate multiplemachining operations including but not limited to: lathe, drillpress, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repairparts. May perform welding tasks.
  • Conforms and complies withcustomer contractor codes of conduct, housekeeping standards, andsafety processes
  • Documents work performed in service reports,applicable management systems, and written explanation regardingobservation and collected equipment performance data.
  • Providesassistance to lower level technicians and leadership to projectteams. Performs expert functions as a part of training anddevelopment.
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes complex control systemsto resolve in-depth software/ hardware and configuration problems
  • Utilizes advanced maintenance technologies to collect equipmentperformance data. Observes trends and makes recommendations.
  • Completes and conducts on-the-job training and technical self-studyprograms for career development.
  • Follows all safety relatedpolicies, rules, regulations, technical instructions andguidelines.

Competencies:
Essential KSAs:
  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Associates degree with a Technical focus and 10 years of relatedexperience in specific industry; or, 12 years of experience inspecific industry.
  • Possesses comprehensive understanding ofelectrical, mechanical, fluid power and control systems. Cananalyze the problem, synthesize alternative solutions, and performrepairs.
  • Must be able to use basic hand tools and specializedtools as appropriate.
  • Extensive travel required.

Desirable KSAs:
  • Experience in conditionbased maintenance techniques, precision mechanical alignments, andmaintenance of applicable process equipment.
  • Experience inprogrammable logic controllers, field device troubleshooting, andmaintenance of electrical drive and motor systems.

SafetyPhysical Demands and Working Conditions:

While performing theduties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand;walk; use hands/fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands andarms; climb, ascend/descend or balance to heights that may requirea ladder or lift; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confinedspaces; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required tosit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50pounds. The employee is regularly required to use close vision andcolor vision. The employee is occasionally exposed to outsideweather conditions and risk of electrical shock. Work is typicallyperformed in a factory environment and is usually very loud. In thefactory environment, the employee may be exposed to hazardousmaterials and/or greasy or slippery factory floors.
