Full Time – Maintenance Technician Join Our Team and Make a Difference in the Lives of Rescued Primates! We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our compassionate team at the International Primate Protection League (IPPL). In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining our sanctuary facilities and ensuring the safety and well-being of our primate residents. You will work closely with both the maintenance and animal care teams to create a safe and comfortable environment for the animals in our care. This position requires a 40-hour work week including some weekend work and callouts.

Key Responsibilities:

Report directly to the Facilities Lead Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning of buildings, grounds, and equipment. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Perform basic painting and carpentry tasks as needed. Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential maintenance issues. Safely operate a variety of tools and equipment, including welding equipment (experience preferred). Work efficiently in a dynamic environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with the Facilities Lead and other team members to ensure project alignment and effective maintenance practices. Communicate project updates and maintenance issues clearly and professionally. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the sanctuary’s infrastructure and systems to support project planning and maintenance efforts. Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests. Assist in training and supervising other maintenance staff or volunteers as required.

Qualifications/Skills Technical Skills:

Practical knowledge of general building maintenance principles, including basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry. Excellent problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail. Proficiency in using hand and power tools. Basic computer proficiency for research, work order management, and reporting. Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures rigorously. Ability to lift 50lbs. Ability to work on ladders. Ability to work on ladders.

Soft Skills:

Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks. Flexibility and adaptability to changing project needs and maintenance priorities. Proficiency in English. A passion for animal welfare and a commitment to IPPL’s mission.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training or certification in a relevant field is a plus.

Other Requirements:

Must be comfortable working outside most of the day. Able to work 40 hours a week with some weekend work and callouts required.
