POSITION SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the maintenance mechanic is accountable for a full range of maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and facilities. This opportunity is on second shift, working from 3 pm – 11 pm, Monday through Friday. Some weekend and other overtime work may be required.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs Required and Preventative Maintenance Safely maintains and repairs equipment used during the production of velvet fabric Practices preventative maintenance by monitoring all equipment used during production Accurately utilizes purchase log, process sheets, and maintenance records Assists with rebuilding and making adjustments on portable tools, heaters, lift trucks, and other equipment and machines as required Assist with the maintenance of the electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, water connections and fittings, compressed air systems, air filters, and all heating and cooling equipment throughout the manufacturing plant Other related duties as required

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required 1 year of relevant Industrial Maintenance experience required Valid driver’s license Preference will be given to candidates having forklift experience / certification / Fall Protection / Aerial Lift Experience or certification General skills in operating tools and equipment and an understanding of the conditions that may impact their performance General understanding of building and equipment maintenance, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry work Skilled in performing basic repairs Ability to work from wiring diagrams and equipment manuals for rebuilding equipment and manual repairs Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail Good understanding of the English language including verbal, written, and reading skills Ability to communicate effectively with others and work as part of a team Ability to learn new tools and equipment as required for the position Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces when required Ability to work variable hours including shift work Physical capabilities include bending, crouching, kneeling, and the ability to stand for extended periods of time Availability to work weekends as needed Ability to source parts/materials and prepare paperwork for requisitions
