General Statement of Job
Under regular supervision, performs a variety of basic maintenance and craftsman tasks in order to construct and provide safe structures and a safe environment for students and school personnel. Loads, transports, unloads, delivers equipment, materials/supplies, and tools to District sites as needed.
Cleans and maintains assigned vehicle(s), tools, and test equipment. Performs all duties in compliance with District and department policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety.
Must be available after hours for emergency repairs as required.
Have the ability to use District technology and required maintenance related software
Must have the ability to get along with fellow workers and personnel at the schools throughout the district. Must have good character.
Prompt and regular attendance is essential.
Reports to: Assistant Director of Maintenance or his/her designee. This is an entry-level position
Example of Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Arranges furniture and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for special events.
Assists other maintenance workers with projects (e.g. transporting and/or securing materials, completing specific tasks, etc.) completing projects in a safe, efficient manner.
Cleans District buildings and grounds areas as needed and/or assigned providing an effective working/learning environment, preventing damage and/or limiting liability exposure.
Assists with installation of system component parts, classroom and office equipment and facility components (e.g. lighting, heating and ventilating systems, alarms, plumbing, security, electrical panels, etc.) providing a safe and workable environment.
Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Performs a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, electrical, etc.) completing projects within established time frames.
Repairs furniture and building system components ensuring a safe working condition.
Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
Perform all other Maintenance/Custodial related duties as required by the supervisor.
Additional Duties:
Will be required to work with all trades and levels of Operations maintenance department.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent, Win Assessment-Bronze level, college or related technical degree.
Must be in good physical condition. Able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing ladders or walking.
Must be able to work safely in an environment containing caustic chemicals, cleaning materials, dust and noise. Routinely required to work under inclement weather conditions.
Must have a valid S.C. driver’s license.
