Are you skilled in multiple maintenance areas, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and painting? The Facilities Tech role is essential for maintaining the Thomson Building and the Center for Health and Well-Being. This position involves performing regular repairs to ensure both facilities remain functional and visually appealing.
Primary Duties:
Provides planned and corrective maintenance and repair services including carpentry, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing in the Center for Health and Well-Being and the Thomson Building by receiving work orders Inspecting, verifying, and problem-solving maintenance issues; ensuring that all work performed follows department and OSHA safety guidelines, policies, and regulations, and is communicated with supervisor and affected staff Ensure all facility systems are in safe working order and compliant with national and local codes and regulations while exhibiting professionalism in conduct, appearance, and work practices. Demonstrates 100% compliance will all USC and DHEC asbestos and hazardous materials policies and procedures. Assist with reporting major issues that cannot be handled in-house to USC Facilities Department or the appropriate vendor/contractor.

Perform electrical repairs, to include the replacement of lights, ballast, receptacles, switches, light fixtures, and re-lamping, as well as plumbing repairs and the replacements of washers, valves, faucets, handles, and the adjustments of fittings. Handles all repairs in plumbing from the wall out. Assist with moving offices and furniture when staff are relocated. Complete setups and breakdowns for Student Health and Well-Being events within SHWB facilities and on campus. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25 Job Duty Assist with reporting major issues that cannot be handled in-house to USC Facilities Department or the appropriate vendor/contractor. Consult with USC Facilities Department and outside vendors upon their arrival and inform the facilities manager of significant issues that require budgetary approval or could impact the daily operations of the facility Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Performs administrative tasks including maintaining and completing accurate time sheets, records on all repairs performed in related systems. Assist in ordering and maintaining an adequate inventory of equipment and supplies as needed to ensure effective operation of facilities and timely repairs. Attend all regular meetings and trainings as required. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Assist with vehicle management operations by taking Student Health and Well-Being vehicles to a certified mechanic when repairs are needed. Maintain driving logs and send logs to USC Vehicle Management as required. Perform other duties as assigned.
