The Facilities Tech role is essential for maintaining the Thomson Building and the Center for Health and Well-Being. This position involves performing regular repairs to ensure both facilities remain functional and visually appealing.

Primary Duties:

Provides planned and corrective maintenance and repair services including carpentry, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing in the Center for Health and Well-Being and the Thomson Building by receiving work orders
Inspecting, verifying, and problem-solving maintenance issues; ensuring that all work performed follows department and OSHA safety guidelines, policies, and regulations, and is communicated with supervisor and affected staff
Ensure all facility systems are in safe working order and compliant with national and local codes and regulations while exhibiting professionalism in conduct, appearance, and work practices.
Demonstrates 100% compliance will all USC and DHEC asbestos and hazardous materials policies and procedures.
Assist with reporting major issues that cannot be handled in-house to USC Facilities Department or the appropriate vendor/contractor.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
Requires job related accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Trade license and or certification preferred.
Additional Comments
Knowledge of general maintenance requirements specific to trades background, safe work practices, and typical hazards within the workplace. Ability to work within established resources, communicate in writing and orally to leadership and other stakeholders, maintain accurate records, operate computer systems, organize work materials, plan and prioritize work, develop and use strong customer service skills, maintain a harmonious relationship within team members and other departmental staff, work independently and as a member of a team, demonstrate dedication to teamwork and customer service, utilize safe work practices, and promote safety in the work place.
