Full Job Description Landscape Maintenance Job Summary:

The Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and improving the appearance and functionality of outdoor spaces. This role involves performing a variety of landscaping and maintenance tasks to ensure that lawns, gardens, and other outdoor areas are kept in excellent condition. The Grounds Maintenance Technician will work closely with the grounds maintenance team to deliver high-quality service and maintain a safe and attractive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Mow, trim, and edge lawns and other grassy areas. Prune shrubs, trees, and plants to promote healthy growth and maintain desired shapes. Weed and mulch flower beds and garden areas. Plant flowers, shrubs, and trees as needed.

Grounds Cleaning and Upkeep:

Remove debris, trash, and litter from outdoor areas. Sweep and clean walkways, driveways, and parking lots. Maintain outdoor furniture and fixtures, ensuring they are clean and in good repair.

Irrigation and Watering:

Install, repair, and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants and lawns. Adjust irrigation schedules and settings to optimize water usage. Hand water plants and lawns as needed, especially during dry periods.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

Operate a variety of landscaping equipment and tools, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools. Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure it is in good working condition. Report any equipment issues or needs for repair to the supervisor.

Pest and Disease Control:

Monitor plants and lawns for signs of pests and diseases. Apply pesticides and fertilizers as needed to promote plant health and control pests. Follow all safety guidelines and regulations when handling chemicals.

Seasonal Tasks:

Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal, leaf raking, and holiday decoration installation. Prepare outdoor areas for changing seasons, including winterizing irrigation systems and planting seasonal flowers.

Customer Service:

Interact with clients and property owners in a professional and courteous manner. Respond to client inquiries and requests promptly and effectively. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through quality work and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a related field. Knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and landscaping practices. Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment and tools. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in horticulture or landscaping. Experience with irrigation system installation and maintenance. Knowledge of local plant species and landscaping best practices.

Work Environment:

This position requires extensive outdoor work in various weather conditions. Regular physical activity, including lifting, bending, and operating equipment. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.

Compensation:

Competitive hourly wage based on experience. Overtime pay. Comprehensive benefits package including health and retirement plans.
