Position Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and dependable Floor & Carpet Technician to join our maintenance team as an independent subcontractor. This position involves the installation, repair, and maintenance of various flooring materials, including hardwood, tile, carpet, vinyl, and laminate in our residential properties.
Key Responsibilities:
Floor Installation:
Measure, cut, and install carpet, hardwood, tile, laminate, and vinyl according to specs.
Repairs & Maintenance:
Replace damaged sections, repair worn areas, and troubleshoot flooring issues.
Surface Preparation:
Level, sand, and clean subfloors for proper adhesion and finish.
Material Handling:
Use adhesives, grout, and other materials safely and efficiently.
Tool Use:
Operate hand and power tools (saws, drills, sanders, nailers, etc.) properly.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and building codes during all jobs.
Customer Communication:
Work professionally with property management and, when needed, with tenants to explain work and timelines.
Clean Work Area:
Maintain a clean and organized job site during and after all work.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Flooring Technician or similar trade Skilled in various flooring types (tile, carpet, vinyl, hardwood, etc.) Must have own tools and transportation Ability to read floor plans or blueprints Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting skills Capable of lifting heavy materials, kneeling, and standing for long periods Excellent communication and time management skills Valid driver’s license Experience with residential property work preferred Familiar with OSHA safety standards and local building codes
