Job Description We are looking for a
DOCK/DOOR
Field Service Technician , to travel to customer locations to install/repair the customer’s equipment. Candidates must be self-starters with excellent mechanical ability, strong problem-solving skills and sales ability. Good communication skills and the ability to work well with customers is imperative.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, service, repair and install dock and door equipment at various customer locations.
- Dock Technicians perform high quality service repairs on all loading dock equipment, examples can be dock levelers (aka – “plates”), dock shelters, dock seals, dock bumpers, commercial doors, and more.
- Perform commercial service/installation on a wide range of products, including hinges, operators, door sections, rolling steel, torsion springs, dock equipment, locks, etc.
- Responsible for multiple tasks involving the take down of used commercial doors and/or equipment, installation of new commercial doors, operators, equipment and multiple service categories on doors, operators, dock levelers and associated equipment.
- Prior to commencement of work, determine if appropriate tools and equipment are working and/or available.
- Documentation of the work to be performed is discussed with the Salesperson and/or Scheduling Supervisor for approval.
- Perform related minor work in framing, build in’s, and adjustments.
- Care and maintenance of equipment and tools.
- Care and maintenance of vehicles.
- Maintain appropriate parts inventory in the vehicle to ensure that items are available for service/installation work.
Qualifications Follow all safety policies and procedures. Always work safe and report any unsafe work or work environments to management. Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems. Welding/Fab exposure a plus. Experience with hydraulics is helpful. Comfortable working at heights up to 40 feet. Able to use forklift and scissor lift. Willing to work in multiple environments and weather conditions.
- Strong multitasking and time management skills. Able to prioritize your day and self-manage.
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs. unassisted.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience is required Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Ability to provide your own hand tools Working knowledge of computer systems and able to quickly learn our software to complete online work orders.
Demonstrable customer service skills, both verbal and non-verbal. High school diploma or equivalent; Technical school graduate preferred Mechanical and electrical aptitude
