Requirements:

Strong background in cable plant support services to include: Minimum experience of three (3) years in cable plant support services to include cable splicing, copper cable troubleshooting and testing, fusion splicing machine operation, cable air dryer experience, and cable and fault locating. Three years OSP cable maintenance. Active/recent U.S. government security clearance.

Job Description:

Install, maintain, repair, and modify cable systems. Use engineered drawings, statements of work, and technical manuals to determine requirements for underground, buried, and aerial cable systems. Terminate tip cables on main distribution frames. Install, maintain, and repair dry air compressors and continuous flow and static pressurization systems. Ensure techniques, materials, and accomplishments are according to technical standards, specifications, and engineered directives. Locate, repair and/or replace splice cases. Perform pneumatic troubleshooting to locate faulty splice cases and pressure component assemblies using resistance measurements and pressure gradients. Repair pressure component assemblies and adjust pressure contacts. Determine the course of signal deterioration in voice and data circuits over cable by using test equipment. Interpret compressor meter readings and adjust controls. Troubleshoot pneumatic and electrical malfunctions in cable air-dryer compressors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: Stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb. Talk and hear. Lift and move items over 50 pounds. Perform duties in all weather conditions. Drive from work site to work site.
