Position Overview:
We are currently hiring an experienced Onshore Termination & Joint Inspector based in Providence, Rhode Island for a 6-month contract to support the installation and testing of HV/MV cable systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for field inspections, QA/QC oversight, testing verification, and documentation for onshore cable jointing and termination work. This role offers competitive pay up to $80/hour , depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect onshore cable terminations and joints using project-approved tools and procedures Witness and verify cable testing procedures including VLF, sheath, and OTDR tests Ensure accurate, complete documentation in line with approved RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statements) Enforce and comply with the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements
Key Tasks:
Perform QA/QC inspections and track punch list items through to closeout Submit daily progress reports to the Export Cable Technical Scope Manager Review daily contractor reports and verify schedule alignment Maintain accurate technical documentation in compliance with project records procedures Submit Permit to Work requests and coordinate with SAPs for high-voltage switching Ensure test equipment is available and cable testing is completed on schedule Support Handover Certification and related documentation Collect and report site weather data impacting work Submit Non-Conformance and Damage Defect Notifications to the Cable Engineer Interface with contractors and coordinate with adjacent scopes (e.g., substations, civil teams) Deliver detailed end-of-shift handover reports Review and validate testing documentation for compliance
Deliverables:
Inputs to interface coordination and installation planning QA/QC reports, testing memos, and daily updates On-site technical recommendations and meeting minutes Lessons Learned documentation for engineering review Archived termination and joint records in the project management system Role Objective /
KPI:
Ensure all onshore cable jointing and termination work is performed to the highest quality standards, on schedule, and in compliance with safety and technical requirements.
Authority & Responsibility:
Empowered to recommend changes impacting time, quality, or cost to the Export Cable Project Engineer and Technical Scope Manager.

Mandatory:
Valid Driver’s License Current First Aid Certification Preferred:
HV/MV jointing and termination experience or certification Familiarity with VLF and OTDR testing procedures Safety certification for working in high/low voltage substation environments Knowledge of cable cleating systems, grounding, bonding, and CDM Regulations 2015 • This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in a major onshore power infrastructure project in Providence, RI .
