Low Voltage Technician / Apprentice 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Columbia, SC 29201 Role Summary Carolina Georgia Sound is hiring Low Voltage Technicians and Apprentices to support our growing portfolio of commercial AV, CCTV, drive-thru, access control, and structured cabling projects. Whether you’re an experienced technician or just starting out, you’ll be part of a team that installs, services, and supports mission-critical technology for restaurants, retailers, schools, and other commercial facilities across Georgia and the Southeast. Experienced technicians lead field installations and service calls, while apprentices gain hands-on training in wiring, system setup, and troubleshooting. We’re looking for team players who are dependable, coachable, and committed to doing the job right.
Key Responsibilities All Technicians:
Install and service low-voltage systems including: CCTV cameras and video recording systems Commercial audio and paging systems Drive-thru headset/base station systems Access control systems and badge readers Network infrastructure (Cat5e/6 wiring, device setup) Perform rough-in, trim-out, testing, and commissioning of installed systems Maintain accurate records of materials, time, and service work Ensure quality and safety on every jobsite Travel to customer sites as required (day trips and occasional overnights) Additional Responsibilities for
Experienced Technicians:
Interpret drawings, site plans, and customer scopes Lead small crews or solo jobs with minimal supervision Troubleshoot and resolve field issues independently Serve as point-of-contact for customers during installations Support and mentor junior techs and apprentices Additional Responsibilities for
Apprentices:
Support senior techs with tasks like pulling cable, mounting devices, labeling equipment, and cleanup Learn how to use tools, read plans, and follow CGS installation standards Participate in formal and on-the-job training to build proficiency across service lines Core Competencies Technical Learning

Requirements Required:
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 25% Comfortable with physical labor and power tools Reliable, professional, and eager to learn Preferred for
Technicians:
2+ years of low-voltage experience (CCTV, AV, access control, or similar) Strong troubleshooting skills and experience leading installs Own basic tools (specialty tools provided) Preferred for
Apprentices:
No experience required, but trades/construction background is a plus Willingness to learn technical systems and installation methods
What We Offer Pay:
Technicians:
Starting at $20/hour+ (commensurate with experience)
Apprentices:
Starting lower, with structured raises as you progress
