Position Summary:

Assist in troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, replacing,adjusting and modifying company vehicles, vans, pick-up trucks,tractors, trailers and various types of refrigeration, airconditioning and temperature control equipment, includingstructural metal repair and painting of tractors and trailers, aswell as performing road service and preventative maintenance dutiesfollowing standard accepted methods, practices and procedures inemergency and non-emergency situations and ensuring all safety andquality standards are met. Communicates and interacts withco-workers professionally ensuring questions are answeredaccurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team memberwithin the department and organization, as required, and performany duty assigned to best serve the company.

Position Responsibilities:

Review work schedule, perform safety check on equipment, obtainsupplies required to perform the work and prepare for operations.

Work from preventative maintenance schedules, various checklists,manuals, diagrams, specifications, vehicle file andinstructions. Assist in performing regular scheduled tractor inspections,complete checklists, troubleshoot and make routine repairs asrequired. Perform major repair work to tractors and trailers,disassemble, remove, repair or replace defective parts orcomponents of gas or diesel engines, transmissions, steeringmechanisms, ignition, electrical and hydraulic systems, airconditioning, refrigeration controls and units, clutches, brakesand mechanical or electrical operating units. Assist in servicing and repairing refrigeration units, repairengines, repair leaks, replace tubing, condensers, thermalcontrols, and recharge units with approved refrigerant gas. Operate electric arc welding equipment to repair ramps, laddersand tripods, repair or construct new cargo bars. Assist on road service trips, maintain required logs, records,checklists and reports, maintain garage tools, equipment and workarea in a clean and orderly manner. Perform other similar or related operations as assigned ordirected. At end of shift, secure all equipment, perform generalhousekeeping duties and complete all required paperwork. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualification:

HighSchool Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience 6-12 months interpret data requiring advanced skills knowledgeequivalent to 6-12 months training in truck/automotive maintenance; wide varietyof drawings, specifications, charts, tables, various types ofmeters and diagnostic equipment.
