Job Description
The Diesel Mechanics primary function is to provide maintenance and repairs to all company vehicles and equipment. Vehicles include diesel and gasoline engines, electric pallet jacks and forklifts.
Accountabilities
- Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems
- Conduct preventative maintenance, as scheduled, on machinery, systems, and automotive vehicles
- Repair and install major components
- Service and repair brakes
- Repair and replace tires
- Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records
- May be required to perform other duties as assignedQualifications
- Two to four years of experience in fleet operations
- Must be a self-starter, dependable, safety minded, detail oriented and organized with processes and paperwork
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis from ground level and overhead
- Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment
- Ability to bend, kneel, stand, lift and perform physical labor for multiple hours at a time
- Ability to operate and maneuver a pallet jack with a weight load of approximately 2500 lbs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with sound customer service skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include some daily overtime, holidays, evenings and weekends
- Valid drivers license and excellent driving record are required
- Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
- Class A CDL preferred but not required
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical if the candidate is a CDL driver
