Position Summary
Providepetent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise. Responsible for the day-to-day activities in their respective departments. Special functions may include rmending class scheduling, providing information for budget planning, counseling, student recruitment, registration, working with studentanizations, appropriate record keeping, and teaching all assigned classes. The Diesel Mechanics Instructor is responsible to the Division Chair and/or the appropriate Associate Dean for planning, preparing, and presenting appropriate and effective learning experiences to students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teach classes and/or labs as assigned. Teach at varied times and places and in varied formats based on student demand; day, evening, or weekend, at any campus/instructional site deemed necessary, including dual enrollment, traditional classroom, hybrid or web format.
Achieve program/instructor certifications within the first year of employment and maintain program/instructor certification. Request material, equipment, and supplies as needed for the program.
Assist students as an advisor in developing class schedules, program planning, and career counseling.
Maintain updated course syllabi for all courses taught and provide a syllabus to all students enrolled in the class. Each faculty member will ad to the course syllabus. Achieve proficiency in Canvas and incorporate it in the delivery of all courses.
Review and rmend revision of curriculum periodically and provide input to the college-wide curriculummittee.
Assist in the development of course offerings each term.
Provide input for Annual Needs Assessment. Maintain and submit Perkins forms as needed. Maintain all records as needed for the instructional program and the college. Participate on college-widemittees as assigned.
Provide library information to students.
Maintain professional conduct in dealing with students, staff, administration, faculty, and the collegemunity.
Ad to prescribed procedures in all financial operations of the division.
Maintain safe practices in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
Actively recruit students for the program and the College.
Participate in the planning and budgeting processes of the division.
Compile and dispense necessary reports, in a timely manner. Provide academic and career advice to students and promote student leadership and enrichment experiences.
Assist in the coordination of the institutional effectiveness plan.
Attend faculty and staff meetings. Participate in College andmunity activities.
Participate in approved professional development activities through professionalanizations, seminars, and programs designed to maintain and improve skills.
Collect, maintain, and submit accurate class records including grades, attendance rosters, absences, withdrawal, and/or class drop information to appropriate offices. Promote positive and productive relationships with service area businesses, industries, and agencies.
Be prompt and punctual in reporting for work. Maintain assigned office hours.
Serve onmittees engaged in furthering the work of the institution when appointed or when elected.
Be familiar with institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the College Catalog, Employee Handbook, and the ACCS Policy Publications; and follow such policies and procedures.
Assume all other duties assigned by the Division Chair and/or College Administration

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree in applicable discipline area preferred. If a candidate has an associate’s degree, three years of full-time experience as a practitioner in the diesel mechanical field is required. Relevant skills in diesel mechanics are required.
If a candidate has no associate’s degree, three years of full-time working experience as an in-field practitioner with relevant skills is required (five years preferred), and the candidate mustplete an in-field associate’s degree within the first 35 months of employment.
Teaching experience is preferred.
KLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent oral and writtenmunication skills.
Competency in the use of current educational technologies in the classroom.
Documented evidence in the proficiency of use of internet, e-mail, andputer software programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Kledge and experience with professionalanizations, which promotes leadership, work ethic, and skill attainment;
Commitment to and ability to deal effectively with all students, including those of diverse age, cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
Understanding of basicputer skills.
Proven successful management of personnel, records, equipment, laboratories or shops, and facilities.
Demonstrated expertise with developing and teaching web-based courses.
Ability to review and update curriculum to meet changing industry needs.
Demonstrated experience with establishing partnerships involving business and industry entities as well as 4-year institutions.
Ability to conduct individual and small group instruction.
Previous experience using WebCT, Blackboard, or other course management software, from an instructor standpoint.
Ability to learn new teaching pedagogy, and new software, as required.
An understanding of andmitment to the philosophy and mission of themunity college system.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to deal effectively with diverse students, other employees, and the public.
