As we continue expanding our Transportation Division, we are seeking an experienced Mobile Fleet Mechanic who understands that excellence in transportation starts with accountability, safety, and service. About the Mobile Fleet Mechanic Role A Mobile Fleet Mechanic at A & Associates plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and reliability of our school bus and charter bus fleet. You will be responsible for performing on-site preventative maintenance, diagnostics, safety inspections, and repairs to ensure our vehicles are fully operational, FMCSA compliant, and ready to serve our transportation commitments. This role requires strong technical proficiency, attention to detail, and flexibility to travel to various service locations throughout the region. Role Purpose The Mobile Fleet Mechanic ensures safe, efficient, and timely maintenance of the fleet while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory standards, client-specific requirements, and A & Associates’ operational excellence. This includes performing inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance in the field. Key Duties and Responsibilities Preventative Maintenance & Safety

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on diesel, gasoline, and propane buses.
  • Conduct safety inspections and verify FMCSA, DOT, and Florida DOE compliance.
  • Diagnose and repair brake systems, electrical systems, engines, HVAC, and hydraulic systems. Mobile Service & Incident Response
  • Respond to on-site repair needs, emergency calls, and roadside breakdowns.
  • Provide timely diagnostics and resolutions while coordinating with Operations Manager.
  • Document all maintenance activity and ensure fleet service logs remain current. Vendor Coordination & Scheduling
  • Recommend necessary parts, tools, and vendor services for specialized repairs.
  • Coordinate with management for scheduling service priorities. Position Requirements Licensing & Credentials
  • Valid Driver’s License (CDL with P & S endorsements preferred).
  • ASE Certifications preferred but not required.
  • DOT Medical Card (if applicable). Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of heavy vehicle or fleet mechanic experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of school bus and charter bus mechanic experience.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and Florida DOE transportation compliance. Knowledge, Skills & Traits
  • Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently.
  • Ability to safely lift 50+ lbs. and work in varying outdoor conditions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Must possess own set of professional-grade tools and diagnostic equipment necessary to perform mobile repairs, preventative maintenance, and roadside service calls. Working Conditions

  • Flexible hours based on service needs.
