SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Will receive Goals and directions from higher level management. Expect Lead to be Independent Self Motivated that will have Direct supervision over shop mechanics.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1.

Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of technical assigned staff. 2. Perform skilled mechanic duties including troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing medium and heavy duty vehicles and equipment. 3. Inspect, diagnose, repair and adjust a variety of systems on light and heavy equipment and vehicles, including fuel injection systems, brake systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, air conditioning systems, fuel management systems, transmissions, steering and suspension components, clutches and engine sensors. 4. Inspect motorized and mechanical equipment; diagnose problems and determine extent of necessary repairs; perform routine preventive maintenance. 5. Train and Mentor all levels of Diesel Technicians. 6. Overhaul, repair and adjust engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, generators, distributors and pumps; fit and adjust bearings; install axles and wheels. 7. Update and maintain Standard Operating and Safety Procedures. 8. Inventory Equipment and Supplies, Organize, Update and Maintain. 9. Conduct Weekly Staff Safety Meetings. 10. Report on Technician Efficiency Reporting Monthly to upper management.

Qualifications:

5 years of experience as a heavy- duty truck equipment/diesel mechanic 2 years of experience as a Leader and/or Shop Manager A high school diploma (or equivalent) Vocational Training and/or Technical Certificate or equivalent Experience in all mechanical and electrical repairs on vehicles such as engine and hydraulic systems, air conditioning repairs, drive-ability diagnosis and electrical, metal fabrication and wiring problems. A valid driver’s license (Class A license preferred, but not required) Provide own tools and possess ability to safely and effectively use them Must be able to work with Scanners Must be dependable and report to work on time Must be able to communicate effectively with management, drivers, yard and dispatch personnel Must exhibit a high level of safety consciousness and a clear understanding of equipment safety Good written and verbal communication skills The following environmental/atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. The actual working conditions will vary. Shop environment including, but not limited to, machines, tools, heavy equipment, chemicals, solvents, dust, and fumes. Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions and loud noises. Push / pull up to 75 pounds’ force. Occasional sitting, ladder climbing, overhead reaching, balancing, kneeling, and crawling. Frequent standing, walking, stair climbing, stooping, and firm grasping. Constant forward reaching and simple grasping.
