Job Description

Position:

Mechanic ?C? (Bus Mechanic)

Hours:

Full-time, 40-hours perweek.

Shift:

2nd Shift, 1:30 p.m. 10:00 pm. Work Schedule T.B.D.Schedule will be Wednesday – Sunday with Monday and Tuesday off; orTuesday – Saturday with Sunday and Monday off. Schedule subject to somevariation depending on bidding process.

Training:

Initial training willoccur on first shift for approximately 3 months.

Hourly Rate:

$26.19per hour. $2.00 per hour differential for Saturday and Sunday work.

Union Status:

Bargaining unit, non-exempt, with competitive benefitspackage.

Yes Position Summary:

This position performsrepairs and replacement of diesel and gasoline engine parts/accessoriesas required; rebuilds engine parts and other vehicle parts includingbrakes; repairs all vehicles (gas, diesel, hybrid, and electric)including repairs to air conditioners; makes road calls by driving aservice truck or bus; assists mechanics in troubleshooting mechanicalproblems including electrical systems, engines, etc.; performs wash-rackduties including bus fueling and cleaning as needed and assumesadditional responsibilities as required; must maintain up-to-datediagnostic, troubleshooting and repair skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or G.E.D. is required; must possess at least twoyears of experience in repair of diesel and gasoline powered vehicles ora degree in Automotive Service Technology or equivalent combination ofeducation and experience. Must be experienced in the use of tools toperform mechanical work. Must be able to able to demonstrate entry levelmechanical skills and aptitude and the basic proficiencies needed torepair and maintain the systems and components listed above. Must beable to read schematics and use diagnostic equipment, including laptopcomputer diagnostics. Must possess sufficient amount of standardmechanical hand tools and a mobile storage cabinet for theircontainment. CDL license or ability to obtain is required, acceptabledriving record. Must be able to maintain required CDL licensing and DOTmedical qualifications while employed as a Bus Mechanic.

Tools:

Mustpossess own standard mechanical hand tools and a mobile storage cabinetfor their containment. An annual tool allowance is provided onceeligibility requirements are met.

Licenses/Certifications:

A Class B(“P” endorsement) Commercial Driver’s License is strongly preferredor ability to successfully complete company sponsored CDL training,normally within probationary period; a valid MA drivers license in goodstanding is required at time of hire. Must be able to prepare for andobtain CDL B with Passenger Endorsement permit on own time.

PreferredQualifications:

CDL license and no airbrake restriction. Three to fiveyears of demonstrated experience working as a mechanic, preferably onlarger commercial vehicles and/or directly related academic training orcombination of demonstrated work experience and/or formal training inthe mechanic field
