Diesel Engine Specialist Beachum and Lee Ford, Inc. 1474 Us Hwy 74 West, Wadesboro, NC 28170 Overview We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair, maintenance, and diagnostics, with the ability to work on various types of diesel and Gasoline engines. This position is crucial for maintaining the reliability and safety of our customers’ vehicles while supporting our dedication to high-quality service. Responsibilities Conduct thorough inspections of diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, electrical, and exhaust systems to identify issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Utilize diagnostic tools, software, and technical manuals to accurately identify mechanical and electrical problems. Interpret diagnostic test results to determine the root cause of malfunctions. Repair or replace defective parts and components, including engines, transmissions, fuel systems, electrical systems, brakes, and exhaust systems. Test-drive vehicles after repairs to ensure they are operating correctly and safely. Perform post-repair quality checks to verify the effectiveness of the work. Accurately document all inspections, maintenance tasks, repairs, and parts used on work orders and service reports. Communicate findings and recommendations to supervisor and/or service advisor. Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. This includes the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the safe handling of tools and equipment. Stay updated with the latest advancements in diesel engine technology, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques through ongoing training and professional development with FORD. Communicate effectively with shop personal to explain technical issues, recommended repairs, and the status of the vehicle. Experience Proven experience as a Diesel Technician or similar role in an automotive industry setting. Strong knowledge of diesel engine repair techniques and practices. Familiarity with electrical systems related to diesel engines is highly desirable. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role. Familiarity with gasoline engines is also highly desirable, as it demonstrates a versatile skill set and the ability to work across different types of vehicle systems.
