Job Description

  • ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • include but are not limited to the following.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Service, repair, adjust and test all engines, motors, moving parts and equipment

  • Inspect equipment or materials to identify the cause of problems or defects
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment
  • Raise trucks and heavy parts, or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists
  • Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves
  • Troubleshoot operation problems and determine plan of action to remedy problems
  • Install equipment, etc. to meet specifications
  • Complete all necessary paperwork, as required
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
  • Perform preventative maintenance
  • Overhaul and test major components like engines and hydraulic systems
  • Install and repair special equipment
  • Perform minor welding and brazing
  • Maintain and service equipment
  • Change and repair tires
  • QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required
  • Skilled mechanical work
  • Troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret diagnostic test results
  • Ability to use a variety of test equipment and shop tools
  • Ability to perform basic care and maintenance
  • Ability to Lift 100 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carry of objects weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, and balance
  • May be exposed to varying weather conditions, noise levels, and dust levels
  • May work in construction environments
  • May be exposed to potentially hazardous or toxic waste
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • One (1) + year of experience in Heavy Equipment Mechanical maintenance
  • ASE preferred but not required. Must be willing to obtain an ASE certification in at least two areas, or complete within 18 months
  • CDL preferred but not required. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record to drive company vehicles
  • Knowledge of up-to-date methods of maintaining autos, trucks and emergency vehicles
  • Knowledge of operating principles and maintenance of gasoline and diesel-powered engines
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Knowledge of safety standards pertaining to construction field
  • During peak season, ability to work overtime and weekends
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
