DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will engage in various analytical tasks, preventative maintenance, and repair activities for a fleet comprising construction machinery, trucks, and automobiles, all powered by gasoline or diesel engines. Your responsibilities will include servicing hydraulic, electrical, heating, cooling, exhaust systems, as well as manual and automatic transmissions. Additionally, you will conduct state vehicle inspections for all relevant equipment, complete necessary work orders, accurately record time spent, and promptly report any accidents or damage to the equipment. It is essential to identify the correct procedures for repairing heavy machinery to effectively carry out your duties. You must also apply the necessary mechanical adjustments to achieve the desired outcomes while ensuring a safe working environment for yourself, fellow shop personnel, and equipment operators. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Winter shifts are 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Successful completion of the commonwealth’s Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program; or
Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

This position requires possession of an active valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with the Air Brake restriction (L) removed or equivalent.
This position requires possession of a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Conditions of Employment:

This position requires possession of an active Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License and any endorsements necessary to operate specific vehicles or equipment.
This position requires employees to obtain a valid Pennsylvania Class 1, 4, or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification, to include an Emissions Certification, during the probationary period.
This position requires operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.
This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
This position requires possession of an active Hazardous Materials Endorsement (H).
This position requires possession of an active Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N).
