Here, you’ll perform preventativemaintenance and repairs of all levels on the newest and bestmaintained fleet of vehicles in the industry. You will help ourcustomers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road. As aTechnician II at Penske, you are a respected technician. You aretrusted to work independently while doing major and minor repairs,performing road tests to diagnose problems and completingmaintenance tasks. Main Responsibilities:
  • Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
  • Doing preventive maintenance services on truck and trailerequipment with little or no supervision and in a timely manner
  • Repairing and troubleshooting components such as, engines,transmissions and differentials, turbochargers, fuel systemcomponents, etc.
  • Keeping your work area clean and safe
  • UsingPenske’s tools and technologies to log, research and completerepairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
  • Learning new skillsthrough Penske’s technician training

Qualifications:
  • 3 years of practical experience with vehiclemaintenance required
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred;vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
  • Specialized training and experience in thediagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines,transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASECertification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
  • Experiencedusing tools of the trade (including diagnostic equipment, handtools, and power tools)
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Theability to solve problems
  • Excellent customer service skills andcommunication skills
  • The ability to work well as part of a team
  • Willing to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
  • Basiccomputer skills
  • The associate will be required to understand andcomply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations,or other information established by Penske management
  • Theassociate must be able to perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA,and all Penske safety and maintenance policies; including but notlimited to the correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE,machine guarding, and established best safety practice.
  • Regular,predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • As this position requires driving Penske and customer vehicles, itis regulated by the DOT and requires a current driver qualificationfile to be maintained as required by the role.
The driverqualification file includes:

an annual motor vehicle records (MVR)check, a successfully completed DOT Physical, and SafetyPerformance History records request from prior employers in thelast 3 years. Additionally, CDL holders will have a DOT DrugScreening within 30 days of start and subject to a FMCSAClearinghouse review.

  • Willingness to travel as necessary withinthe district (customers’ yards, close geographical area andtraining sites), work the required schedule, work at the specificlocation required, complete Penske employment application, submitto a background screening (to include criminal checks, pastemployment and education) and pass a drug screening.

This positionis regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated assafety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in aconstant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required.

Associates must have the ability to accept responsibility for theirown safety, as well as the safety of others.

  • The associate must be able to regularly lift and/ormove up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to100lbs/45kg.
