- Class A keeps our associates safe by repairing, maintaining, andoverhauling all company fleet diesel equipment to ensure a safeoperation for associates’ usage and ensure compliance standards aremet.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Diesel Technician
- Class A diagnoses and repairs medium toheavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, convertor dollies andmaintenance vehicles under minimal supervision.
Responsibilitiesmay include, but not limited to: Completes overhauls and rebuilds of heavy-duty diesel enginesand transmission. Completes and performs preventative maintenance on minorrepairs and standard component inspections/ repairs of fleet dieselequipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units). Identifiesroot cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs asrequired. Inspects brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings,and other important parts to ensure that they are in properoperating condition which may require replacement of parts. Ensures equipment has required licensing and registration priorto being deemed as “roadworthy”. Completes thorough documentation for work orders of repairs andpreventative maintenance through the online Enterprise AssetManagement system. Installs, replaces, and repairs onboard computers. Inspects brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings,and other important parts to ensure that they are in properoperating conditions. Performs routine maintenance such as changing oil, checkingbatteries and lubricating equipment and machinery requiring the useof hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressuregauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such aspneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists. Trains/provides guidance to other Mechanics. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualification:
HighSchool Diploma/GED or Equivalent 5
- 7 years of proven medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair includingPM’s, tire & wheel, air & air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerizeddiagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic componentrepair and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in refrigeration&/or overhauls and rebuilds of heavy-duty diesel engines andtransmissionsCompany description Performance Foodservice, PFG’s broadline distributor, maintains aunique relationship with a variety of local customers, includingindependent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools,and quick-service eateries.
