Here, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and repairs ofall levels on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles inthe industry. You will help our customers keep their vehicles inshape and on the road. As a Technician II at Penske, you are arespected technician. You are trusted to work independently whiledoing major and minor repairs, performing road tests to diagnoseproblems and completing maintenance tasks. You set an example andinformally mentor new technicians while continuing to grow yourskills from learn from other experienced techs and your manager.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Making sure vehicles aremaintained and safe for our customers
  • Doing preventivemaintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little orno supervision and in a timely manner
  • Repairing andtroubleshooting components such as, engines, transmissions anddifferentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
  • Keeping your work area clean and safe
  • Using Penske’s tools andtechnologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basicvehicle diagnostics
  • Learning new skills through Penske’stechnician training

Qualifications:
  • 3years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational ortechnical certification in vehicle repair preferred
  • Specializedtraining and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of majorcomponents (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM trainingcourses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
  • Experienced using tools of the trade (including diagnosticequipment, hand tools, and power tools)
  • Valid driver’s licenserequired
  • The ability to solve problems
  • Excellent customerservice skills and communication skills
  • The ability to work wellas part of a team
  • Willing to work in non-climate-controlledconditions
  • Basic computer skills
  • The associate will be requiredto understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines,rules, regulations, or other information established by Penskemanagement
  • The associate must be able to perform all workadhering to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenancepolicies; including but not limited to the correct selection anduse of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and establishedbest safety practice.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is anessential function of the job
  • As this position requires drivingPenske and customer vehicles, it is regulated by the DOT andrequires a current driver qualification file to be maintained asrequired by the role.
The driver qualification file includes:

anannual motor vehicle records (MVR) check, a successfully completedDOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records request fromprior employers in the last 3 years. Additionally, CDL holders willhave a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and subject to aFMCSA Clearinghouse review.

  • Willingness to travel as necessarywithin the district (customers’ yards, close geographical area andtraining sites), work the required schedule, work at the specificlocation required, complete Penske employment application, submitto a background screening (to include criminal checks, pastemployment and education) and pass a drug screening.

This positionis regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated assafety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in aconstant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required.

Associates must have the ability to accept responsibility for theirown safety, as well as the safety of others.

  • The associate must be able to regularly lift and/ormove up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to100lbs/45kg.
