Monitor the real-time operation of the high voltage transmissionsystem (up to 500 kV) to ensure that members receive a continuousflow of reliable high quality power. Monitors internal and externalinfluences and adjusts the performance characteristics of thesystem to compensate for and take advantage of changing conditions.

Ensures quality real-time information is available for internal andexternal users to understand performance issues and accurately billcustomers. Ensures member interests and needs are represented toand addressed, in a timely and cost-effective manner, by outsideagencies. This position is responsible for complying with the NERCreliability standards and performs the duties that can determineGSOC’s compliance with the NERC reliability standards. Thisposition has the authority to shed load to maintain the integrityof the BES, or to correct a generation capacity deficiency.

JobDuties:

Operates the Energy Control System to (a) detect and avertstation overload, equipment damage, and voltage fluctuations (b)maintain and enhance system stability. Continuously monitorsweather and system conditions and provides feedback to the SeniorTransmission Operator, who activates the Disaster Response Plan,when necessary. Performs contingency planning and initiatescorrective action to compensate for out of spec conditions intelecommunications and metering. Plans, analyzes, authorizes, andcontrols scheduled operation of system equipment to insure thatsystem performance is assured, necessary maintenance is completedand inter-company resources are coordinated. Writes and issuesswitching orders and clearances on network and non-network devicesin

GSOC AOR.

Writes and issues switching orders on non-networkdevices. Performs real-time data quality assurance and initiatescorrective action to compensate for out of spec conditions intelecommunications and metering. Authorizes, schedules anddispatches manpower (GTC, GPC or contractors) to perform repairs tofaulted equipment. Directs the isolation of system failure and thesafe and efficient restoration of power to members. Represents GTCand EMC interests with GPC. Performs fault analysis to verifyproblem safely cleared. Delivers oral and written presentations andreports that alert senior management to ongoing trends andactivities that might impact the strategies and position of thecompany when responding to members and the public.

RequiredQualifications:
Education:

High School Graduate. Associate’s Degreepreferred.

Experience:

Six years’ transmission operations orconstruction experience and two years control center relatedexperience. Licenses, Certifications, and/or

Registrations:

Must beNERC certified or receive certification within one year of hire.

The required certification must be TO, BIT or RC.

SpecializedSkills:

AC/DC theory, blueprint reading, and excel/MS Wordexperience required. Must have sound decision making ability understressful conditions. Must be able to communicate effectively.

Unusual Hours Required of this

Position:

Work a rotating shift,which involves working weekends and holidays; some vacations andsick leave coverage. Utilizes multiple CRTs continuously. Musthandle multiple tasks.
