Class Summary Job Description
The Trades Technician IV is a supervisory level position and is responsible for performing trades duties. This position will be required to perform complex installations and repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspecting equipment. As a lead to staff, this position will assign, monitor, and train new and current employees. The position interacts with outside contractors. Essential Duties
Supervising staff to include prioritizing and assigning work
Maintaining a healthy and safe working environment
Conducting performance evaluations and recommending employment actions for the section
Overseeing the daily operations of the section
Assisting with the budget process for the section
Processing equipment requests and coordinating repairs
Performing highly complex repairs and installations
Assisting with the coordination and oversight of the work of outside contractors
Maintaining and preparing reports
Preparing equipment and supply specifications
Other Job Requirements/Information This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
This job is a civilian position in either a public safety department or in Information Technology with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, credit check, and fingerprinting.
This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Grade
The grade for this position is B31(3). Salary will be dependent on education and experience. Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED AND
Five years of progressively responsible trades experience some of which is in a supervisory capacity OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
Valid Driver’s License Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications Level II certification in specialty area
