Full Job Description Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Relay Technician to support the installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relaying and associated power system equipment. This position plays a key role in ensuring the reliability and safety of electrical systems for our clients, working closely with engineers and field teams on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relaying equipment and schemes, DFRs, SCADA systems, distribution automation systems, and related communication devices. Collaborate with electrical engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Conduct functional testing on substation control circuits, including relay panels, transformers, and circuit breakers. Perform comprehensive relay testing using software such as Doble ProTesT to validate carrier and fiber systems. Assist in developing and maintaining standard procedures for testing, commissioning, and maintaining relays and associated systems (RTUs, IEDs, DFRs, etc.). Manage field projects, ensuring successful execution and strong client communication throughout the project lifecycle. Execute general electrical maintenance tasks as assigned within plant or substation environments. Complete other duties as directed by supervision.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in relay testing and commissioning. Strong understanding of protective relay schemes across transmission, distribution, and generation systems. Proficient with industry-standard test equipment such as Doble, Omicron, or Manta. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and relay logic diagrams. Knowledge of NETA standards and industry testing protocols. Strong communication and documentation skills. Must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings, as well as a criminal background check. Must be physically able to meet job demands including climbing ladders, standing for extended periods, and traveling. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record required. Willingness to work overtime and travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

NETA Level II, III, or IV certification. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field. Experience using relay software tools (e.g., SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista, ABB PCM). OSHA 10/30 and

NFPA 70E

training certification.
