Job Description

Civil Substation Technician 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars Raleigh, NC Utili-Serve is seeking a Civil Substation Technician to support the safe and efficient construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical substations. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality, dependable service to our customers by performing both energized and de-energized work under varying levels of supervision. Candidates must have a strong understanding of substation construction practices, equipment maintenance, and field operations, along with the ability to interpret prints and complete field reports accurately.

Responsibilities:

Construct, maintain, and operate substation equipment and facilities. Follow all safety procedures and comply with legal and company regulations. Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings. Maintain accurate field inspection reports and project documentation. Collaborate effectively with team members on day-to-day tasks. Provide input and support for training junior staff as needed. Represent the company professionally while working in the field. Perform additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required Prior experience in the electric utility or construction field preferred Understanding of electrical safety practices and high-voltage systems. Knowledge of equipment and switching procedures in substations. Familiarity with electrical theory and basic circuit configurations. Ability to operate tools, PPE, and heavy equipment used in substation work. Skilled in troubleshooting and replacing electrical components. Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions. Strong communication, organization, and time management skills. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Valid driver’s license required; CDL Class A preferred.
