Responsibilities:

Perform diagnostics and root cause analysis on multi-zone VRV/VRF systems (Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, etc.) Conduct system performance verification, including checking inverter compressor operation, EEV functionality, and pressure/temperature relationships Accurately interpret wiring diagrams and perform low/high voltage troubleshooting Commission new VRV systems and verify factory start-up procedures are completed to spec Utilize manufacturer-specific tools and software (Daikin Service Checker, Mitsubishi Maintenance Tool, LG LGMV, etc.) Analyze operational data from service tools to identify abnormal operation, refrigerant imbalance, or control logic failures Execute refrigerant circuit service work, including leak detection, evacuation, charging by weight/subcool/superheat, and component replacement Interpret and follow service bulletins, technical manuals, and engineering documentation Document detailed service reports with recommendations and corrective actions taken Collaborate with technical leads and project managers to resolve ongoing or complex issues in the field

Requirements:

Deep understanding of VRV/VRF operation and architecture (heat recovery, heat pump, branch selector boxes, control logic) Proficient with manufacturer-specific diagnostic software and tools Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (including 3-phase, inverter boards, sensors, and communication wiring) Knowledge of pressure/temperature enthalpy relationships and system balancing Understanding of control strategies for both cooling/heating and defrost sequences Ability to identify software vs. hardware failures in the field Familiarity with refrigerant flow control and piping configuration (including oil return and elevation considerations) Experience with indoor and outdoor board/component replacement Comfort working independently on active systems with high expectations for performance Preferred Experience 3+ years of experience servicing VRV/VRF systems in commercial environments Factory training or certification from major manufacturers (Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, etc.) Proven ability to interpret and analyze service tool data Experience supporting building engineers or facilities managers with system operation guidance Preferred but Not Required Experience with commissioning and re-commissioning VRV systems post-install Familiarity with BACnet/Modbus integration or BMS system interaction Exposure to rooftop OAUs or integrated ventilation tied to VRV systems Work Environment & Expectations Field-based role — candidate must be comfortable working on rooftops, mechanical rooms, and in occupied commercial spaces Must provide clear, organized documentation and contribute to team knowledge-sharing Focused on first-time fix, not just quick band-aids The role is hands-on; candidates should be comfortable installing equipment (lifting up to ~50 lbs), running cables, and working on ladders or in server closets when necessary (safety equipment provided).
