Description
Can recognize and understand the Air Operated Valve (AOV), actuator, positioner, I/P and booster. Responsible for the installation of AOV diagnostic test equipment and data acquisition, AOV actuator set-up, and Instrument Calibrations (i.e. I/P and Positioners). Understands traces, can select proper points for calibration and verify data meets criterion specified in the valve data sheet. Has a basic understanding of AOV performance parameters and degradations by performing an analysis on the acquired data using automated, manual, and overlay analysis routines. Ability to manually analyze direct stem force measurements to determine basic force parameters and if applicable switches and accelerometer/acoustics data.
Major Responsibilities
Perform all duties Safely and work in accordance with customer or CRANE procedures.
Performs proper installation, removal and software setup of components and transducers.
Successfully acquires and stores data.
Evaluates typical AOV performance parameters and common actuator/valve degradations through basic signature analysis.
Required Experience and/or Education
High School Diploma or GED.
One year mechanical and/or electrical maintenance and repair experience.
Ability to read blueprints.
Mechanical knowledge a plus.
Must have a strong commitment to meeting customer requirements and continuous improvement.
Must be able to work in teams while effectively communicating.
Meet current certification and qualification requirements per CRANE Nuclear QAP-2.0:

Exam (TM-35 or 47)

AOV DABA TPE

Physical Requirements
Willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts, up to 72 hours per week.
Ability to travel and be away from home for several weeks up to several months; must be able to travel and support all domestic projects. Must be able to lift 50lbs without assistance.
Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods (4-6 hours at a time), crawl, stoop, crouch and work overhead with flexibility and full range of motion.
Ability to work in clean, safe, and orderly manner.
Ability to work in conditions where there is exposure to radiation.
Ability to climb, balance, and work at heights from platforms, scaffolding, and ladders (fixed or temporary).
Ability to distinguish depth perception and colors.
Ability to work with handheld tools and/or power operated specialized tooling efficiently.
Ability to wear fall-protection.
Ability to work in extreme heat (greater than 100 degrees F) and within OSHA guidelines.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Ability to wear a full-face respirator and anti-contamination clothing from head to toe.
Other Requirements
Must be able to gain unescorted access to a nuclear plant via extensive site background investigation.
Must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing.
Must be able to pass all required computer-based training, classes and written exams for unescorted access.
Able to provide work authorization documents for employment in the United States.
